Selecting the Cables
Selection of cables should be considered as a main factor because, the quality and length of cables can decide the picture quality. There are various cables available to connect the audio and video systems for the projector.
Different cables available to connect various systems are as follows:
High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) Digital Projector Cables
The HDMI digital projector cables are one of the highest quality cables. This can be connected to DVD players, Blu-ray players, game consoles, DVRs, set-up boxes, computers, laptops, smartphones, etc. These cables have a high resolution of video where the picture quality can be considerably improved. But, some projectors may not have an HDMI connection port.
Video Graphics Array (VGA) Cable Connection
These cables are mainly intended to connected devices which are mainly used for presentation slides. These cables are good quality cables and can be connected to many laptops, computers or any other devices for presentations.
Digital Video Interface (DVI) Projector Cable
These connections were developed just before the HDMI connections. DVI also provide high definition video contents, but are provided with long cables. DVI cables are less expensive than HDMI cables. So these are seen only in few offices for presentation and are not widely implemented. DVI cables can be connected to DVDs, set-up boxes, computers, laptops, game soles and many other devices.
Component Projector Cable
These cables are mainly used to transmit the color code information such as red, green and blue. These were also used as high definition cables and can be connected to TVs, game consoles, DVRs, Blu-ray players, computers and laptops.
S-Video Projector Cable
These cables can be connected to most of the audio and video devices, but do not provide high picture quality like the HDMI, VGA or DVI cables.
Composite cables are the basic or standard connections. These cables are manly used for TV and are not commonly used for projectors.
Length of the Cable
Length of the cable is another factor that decides the picture quality. If the length of the cable decreases the signal degradation increases, but it is not a main factor for high definition cables. So, the picture quality is reduced for longer cables so it is better to choose shorter cables.
